8 Daily Vapor Degreaser Maintenance Checks

Daily Vapor Degreaser Checks

A few daily maintenance checks of your vapor degreasing equipment, before you start processing parts, will go a long way to ensure parts are cleaned according to spec.

Vapor Degreasers are known for providing consistent reliable part cleaning. To ensure your parts are cleaned as effectively as possible and maintain the usability of your vapor degreasing system in the long run, a few maintenance checks – done every day before processing parts – will go along way to keep your cleaning operation trouble free.

8 Simple Maintenance Tasks to do Everyday prior to Part Processing

CHECK 1 – Check the Temperature Settings and Proper Functioning of All Safety Limit Controls, before starting the vapor degreaser up for operations.

Each day the LTC, HTC, SVC & WTC (Water Flow Safety Controls on water cooled primary condensation coils) should be checked to ensure that each control is set at the proper temperature and that the control operates properly (i.e. – the control turns the heat off when the temperature set point is exceeded). Also, observe the safety limit control indicator light should be illuminated when the limit is exceeded.

CHECK 2 - Check the Low-Level Float for Proper Functioning before starting the vapor degreaser each day.

The Low-Level Float should be observed for no accumulation of debris that might inhibit its proper functioning.

CHECK 3 - Check for Leaks.

Walk around the vapor degreaser and observe the condition of the system looking for damage to components and check for any solvent leaks that may have developed.

CHECK 4 - Check the Solvent Levels in Boil Chamber.

Check the solvent operating levels in the vapor degreaser’s Boil Chamber to ensure there is sufficient solvent for operation.

CHECK 5 - Check for Water in the Tank.

Check for water floating on the surface of the vapor degreaser tank. If there is water on floating on the surface, determine the cause and remedy what introduced water in the tank.

CHECK 6 - Check Water Separator.

Check whether there is water accumulated in the water separator and if so drain out prior to start up.

CHECK 7 – Check Refrigeration Coils are Cold.

Observe that the refrigeration system is cooling the primary condensing coil and secondary coils inside the tank.

CHECK 8 - Check Filtration Gage.

On ultra systems, there is a filter gage – if the reading is high – the filter is clogged or full – change filter – prior to part processing.

They say an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Taking the time to do a few basic maintenance checks of your vapor degreasing equipment will help reduce down time and minimize quality issues.
