Big News: More Reliance Solvents Awarded Boeing 5408 Approvals
Reliance’s AeroTron-AV-5408 & AeroTron-GS-5408 are now included in the Boeing BAC 5408 Spec
Boeing recently has approved two new solvents manufactured by Reliance (AeroTron-AV-5408 and AeroTron-GS-5408) for use under BAC 5408. The inclusion of these solvents is listed in Section 5.1.4 “Fluorinated Solvents (NON-PFAS MATERIALS)” of BAC5048 Spec Revised 25-June-2025.
AeroTron-AV-5408 and AeroTron-GS-5408 were needed to replace existing available BAC5408 approved solvents because of regulatory changes being mandated by TSCA 6(a) requiring the discontinuation of use of TCE and PERC for vapor degreasing; the anticipated more stringent regulation of nPB; and the AIMS Act phase out of the existing next generation solvents listed in (Section 5.1.3) approved in the past by Boeing under BAC5408.
AeroTron-AV-5408: HFE based with an excellent health, safety and regulatory profile. Specifically formulated for replacement of TCE, nPB, MC and PERC. This formulation is currently used in the industrial market for this purposes since 2018. This BAC5408 approval now makes this technology available for Boeing Suppliers.
AeroTron-GS-5408: This is the most modern next generation solvent employing HFO technology and the only HFO based solvent that is BAC5408 approved. This solvent also has an excellent health safety and regulatory profile.

AeroTron-AV-5408 is a proprietary, non-flammable, HFE next generation solvent manufactured by Reliance and designed specifically for replacement of TCE, NPB, MC and PERC which are subject to the hydrolysis reaction in the presence of water. This formula has been used since 2018, successfully and extensively, by the aerospace industry for replacement of TCE and NPB for vapor degreasing. AeroTron-AV-5408 is highly stable in the presence of water so it does not require hydrolysis inhibitors. However, it contains stabilizers for enhanced prevention of any cross contamination from TCE or nPB during change over.

AeroTron-GS-5408 is the most modern of the next generation solvents and is based on HFO technology. The performance is the equivalent of the Aerotron-AV-5408, and It is available now for companies preferring an HFO to an HFE. AeroTron-GS-5408 is the only HFO based solvent that is available for use under BAC5408.

Validation Testing & Sample Part Cleaning
To ensure your parts are cleaned to your standards, our vapor degreasing experts will clean your parts to your specification as part of your solvent evaluation process. Change Over Support
Many companies change over their solvent during routine maintenance on the vapor degreaser - but a full equipment clean-out is not always necessary. Removing as much of the solvent you are using, emptying the spray tank and filtration system and updating the temperature settings is usually all that is needed - to minimize production disruptions.
